Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening
, an action game by UBI Soft and Capcom productions, released in February 17, 2005, was one of top 50 games of the year 2005. Firstly, it was released for PS2 Engines, but in 2006, was also available in PC Roms.
The game probably was greatly known after its ancestors (Devil May Cry 1 & 2). Our eternal devil hero, "Dante", is still a "push-over" character with all his hyperdemonic guts and super cool equipments(which are to be blessed or snatched as usual). The story of the game (in actual, not in real) starts from a scene when a huge tower "Temen-ni-gru" blasts out from the core of the earth in the central of city towards the sky, making it dark. Who've thought it'd be a party between two twins devils. Dunno what was the real objective of Dante for entering the Temen-ni-gru tower, but his twin brother, "Vergil", was surely in intentions to get the sword of the ruler of hell and his father, "Sparda", who might have died, followed by his assistant or reformer, "Arkham"... And... I'm not good in completing bed time stories so just rely on the intro.
Basically, the game's divided into 20 stages called "Missions". Selection of Equipments and inventory is given before a mission starts, afterwards, different checkpoints come during the mission at regular intervals or once in some missions.
The good as well as bad thing is that points/money are provided by ranks and ranks have high requirements. The more we play fast in style, the greater will be the rank, so would be the money. There are 7 grades of styles during gameplay; Dope, Crazy, Blast, Alright, Sweet, SShowtime & SSStylish. The more technical the combos are, the bigger would be the grade level, the biggest level is SSStylish which is hard to attain and to be kept up. In the end of the mission, the money is given according to our time, orbs, style, damage and used items which is combined to make an overall rank which are D, C, B, A and S (people did claim on the difficulties of this game, but I personally had no problem ending up the game with most of S and A ranks without any cheat methods).
There're some additional side entries which are also linked in as equal as the twin devils are and thus another story is running in the whole rumble. The main characters in the game are:

Dante; The borne hero from previous generations, son of Sparda, without whom the game won't take a step.
Vergil; Dante's brother having an urge to get Sparda's sword.
Mary; A young lady who wants to take revenge from her father for killing her mother.
Arkaham; Father of Mary. The old man who guides Vergil and lures Mary & Dante to Temen-ni-gru's domain to get "his" objective complete i.e. getting the sword of sparda for which the twin bros amulets and the blood of a human and two demons were required.
Jester; An alternate form of Arkham. Jester very wisely leads Dante to his rival brother in order to reach hell gate.

A wide range of combat and long range weapon is given in the game. Weapons are named upon the bosses of some specific stage/mission and are called "Devil Arms", dunno about guns... Not giving the detail with weapons.

Devil Arms :
Rebellion (Becomes a "Force Edge" sword in specific costumes) Ceberus Agni & Rudra Nevan BeoWulf

Guns:
Ebony & Ivory Shotgun Artemis Spiral Kalina Ann (A Bazooka which is given by Mary after beating him in 16th mission)

There are four basic and paranormal stances/styles of fighting. Each one has three two level ups and unique significance in every level. These are:

Trickster (Evading techs)
Swordmaster (Weapon fighting techs)
Gunslinger (Gun using techs)
Royal Guard (Blocks & Counters)

Two additional ability styles are acquired by beating two bosses (no level ups for these two):

Quicksilver (slows down the time) Doppelganger (a mimic shadow which works real)
The most powerful weapon in whole series is dante himself, the "Devil Trigger" which invokes in him because of his brother is an awesome style of playing fast and more lethal, however, it fades away after sometime. The Shape of Devil is real and horrific and much faster and blasting when the hero has "Ultimate Devil Trigger" which comes as an inheritance with "Sparda's Sword".
The total gameplay of the original version of Devil May Cry 3 is cool, but to take it to peeks, Capcom remade a "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening - Special Edition" to let the gamers enjoy the behaviours of Vergil as well.

Like Dante, vergil also has the same things, but less in number.
He has following weapons SE edition:

Devil Arms:
Yamato (His very own personal Katana Sword) Force Edge Beowulf

Guns:
Summoned Swords (a countering and attacking barrier of swords)

Style:
Dark Slayer (high speed evading and approaching)

Like Dante, he also can activate Devil Trigger and Ultimate Devil Trigger.

The gameplay is good (also turbo) and is divided into different difficulty levels. Upon ending every difficulty level, some new bonuses and costumes are unlocked. For the feeling of hopelessness, the Unlimited Devil Trigger and Ultimate Devil Trigger costumes can also be unlocked. Along with, Demo Digest containing all movie clips during game or start and Bloody Palace consisting of 9999 levels is also avaialable in Special Edition.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition
was released on January 24, 2006 for $19.99 as part of the PlayStation 2 Greatest Hits Collection. It was later confirmed that the PlayStation 2 version of the game would also be released in Europe. On February 1, 2006, Ubisoft announced that they would be publishing a PC version of the game developed by SourceNext. The European PC version was the first to come out, even before the Special Edition was released for the PlayStation 2 in that region, being released on June 28, 2006. The North American version was released on October 16, 2006. The game was published in Japan on June 30, 2006. In Europe, the PlayStation 2 version came out on September 29, 2006 for £14.99 and was slightly different from the North American version. Vergil and Bloody Palace mode were unlocked from the start, but the Turbo mode was taken out of the game. Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition was also included in a 5th Anniversary Collection of Devil May Cry games, a collection of the first three games.
